Faculty of Humanities","bibliographic_titleLang":"en"}]}]},"item_10002_description_56":{"attribute_name":"抄録（英）","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"This study identifies the period from of the Japan Teachers' Union (hereafter JTU) 7th Ordinary Congress (May 1950) till the fall of 1950 as the period during which the JTU peace movement experienced a setback. This setback is examined on the basis of discussions within JTU's Central Executive Committee.\nAt the 7th Ordinary Congress, JTU upheld “development of the peace movement” as its policy. When the Korean War broke out, however, JTU lacked sufficient power to put this policy into action. The content of the “Peace Statement” (in July) was vague and the “Peace Petition” (August to October) was a failure. To transform this situation, it was necessary for the Japan Socialist Party and General Council of Trade Unions of Japan (Sohyo) to change their stance sharply toward the peace movement as the Korean War advanced. Within JTU, a change was also needed in the awareness of the members toward the significance of the peace movement initiative.
